I just wrapped up an incredible few days in Washington, D.C. at the AAAS CASE (Catalyzing Advocacy in Science and Engineering) Workshop! (April 6–9, 2025)

We spent two days learning about how researchers and scientists can effectively engage with our communities and communicate the importance of our work. We also got a deep dive into the federal budget process and how to advocate for sustained and increased federal support for research.

We capped off the workshop by putting our training into action during a full day of Capitol Hill visits, where we met with staff from our representatives’ offices to discuss why federal investment in science and education matters.

I was honored to be one of three CASE Fellows sponsored by the American Mathematical Society—grateful for the opportunity to represent the mathematical sciences and to learn alongside such a passionate and inspiring group of early-career researchers.
